Those celebrating milestone reunions are encouraged to support The Penn Fund by pledging to participate in their class’s reunion giving campaign. Multi-year pledges, paid over as many as five years, provide donors with full recognition of the comprehensive commitment amount during the reunion year. As the pledge is fulfilled, donors also will be recognized for individual payments in subsequent years. To commit to a multi-year pledge in honor of your reunion, please contact your Class Giving Director or visit our secure online giving page.

Donors also may demonstrate their long-term commitment to The Penn Fund by setting up a recurring gift charged by credit card on a monthly or annual basis. Utilizing this method, donors may be able to increase their annual support by breaking up payments to equal a larger gift. Matching gifts can double or triple the size of a gift and serve as an important source of support for The Penn Fund. To confirm if you or your spouse/partner are affiliated with a company that matches charitable gifts, visit www.matchinggifts.com/uofpa.

There may be tax advantages for individuals who donate gifts of stock to The Penn Fund, which should be reviewed with the requisite professionals. Please complete this form and send it to your broker to initiate the transfer and forward a copy of the form to the Securities Office via email to stockgifts@lists.upenn.edu or fax 215-573-5118.

Donors interested in making gifts of stock also may directly reach out to colleagues who process these types of gifts by calling 215-898-7254 or emailing stockgifts@lists.upenn.edu.

Donors may recommend or direct gifts that count toward The Penn Fund through donor-advised funds or private foundations. To make a gift through a donor-advised fund, be sure to provide the University of Pennsylvania’s Tax ID/EIN. This important number is 23-1352685. Gifts also should be made payable to the Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania.

Individuals may make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from their IRA directly to the University beginning at age 70½. The amount of the QCD is excluded from a donor’s Adjusted Gross Income (AGI), and thus not subject to income tax; donors do not receive any income tax charitable deduction for the gift. Donors aged 72 and older may use QCDs to satisfy some or all of their Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) up to $100,000 annually.

This sample letter may be used to send to your IRA plan provider. In the memo field on the check, be sure to include your name and “IRA”—as well as how you wish to direct your gift.
